Grock Graduates

After a modest 240-year gap year… Grock has finally graduated.

This sculpt captures everyone’s favorite orc overachiever at the triumphant end of his *extended* high school career. With glowing eyes, a slightly-too-proud grin, and biceps that clearly majored in Physical Education, Grock stands victorious—diploma in one hand and proof of completion in the other. It only took two and a half centuries, several broken desks, and at least three guidance counselors who retired before he did.

Draped in a graduation cap and a dramatically unnecessary cape (because subtlety is not an orc trait), Grock proudly sports my high school’s colors of Maroon and Gray and dressed in the gown that I wore. The contrast against his stone-like skin gives the piece a bold, graphic punch while keeping the palette clean and focused.

Sculpted entirely in ZBrush, this piece was a fun character study in exaggerated anatomy, stylized proportions, and playful storytelling. I leaned into heroic musculature, sharp facial structure, and strong silhouette design to balance comedy with presence. The veins, cracks, and surface detailing were a blast to refine, giving him that “I wrestled algebra for 240 years and won” energy.

This is Grock—proof that it’s never too late to graduate… even if your classmates have been dust for centuries. I should point out that this is a revision for one I did a year ago, but with my school colors. That one was lost in a computer crash AND hard drive crash.
