Here’s a 3D sculpt I created based on a 2D character concept known as “Dopey.” The original drawing is by an unknown artist, and this piece is my interpretation translated into a fully realized 3D form.
I wanted to push the character’s presence by exaggerating the proportions—broad shoulders, thick limbs, and a heavily defined torso—while still preserving the stylized simplicity of the original design. The sculpt focuses on strong, readable anatomy paired with a slightly caricatured aesthetic, especially in the facial structure with the pronounced jawline, tusk-like teeth, and simplified features.
The skin shader leans into a dense, slightly textured surface to give the character more weight and physicality, while the accessories (arm wraps, boots, and strap) break up the silhouette and add a bit of storytelling without overcomplicating the design. The large hammer prop helps reinforce the character’s role and scale, giving a sense of weight and purpose to the overall composition.
I included multiple angles to show off the form, anatomy, and proportions from different viewpoints. Translating a 2D design into 3D always involves interpretation, so I aimed to stay faithful while still letting the sculpt stand on its own.
Hope you enjoy the result!
